Flag Day Spirit Should Continue Through the Fourth of July

With regard to Flag Day after seeing the article about the display of flags on Lake Murray Boulevard and Dallas area by the Kiwanis clubs, more information needs to reach the public.

Patriotic Pride is a touch in the home our hearts wherever we live. Flag Day has significance in two other ways. National Pause for the Pledge for us to reaffirm our pledge to our country at 4 p.m. in California.

Yes, stop and recite the ‘Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America’ and the ‘21 Days to Honor America’ (from Flag Day, June 14 through Independence Day, July 4) as the U.S. Congress dedicated this period in ‘89 STAT. 211’ with the intent that Americans observe it with public gatherings and activities that salute our nation and our freedom.

You will see this in the Flag Day Proclamation prepared by the White House. As individuals, we can do things like teaching a child the Pledge of Allegiance, sing patriotic songs, buy a flag for someone, eat some apple pie, show how to properly fold the flag and read the meaning of the 13 folds, share watermelon with the neighborhood children, pick up trash in your community, share the history of Flag Day, make home-made ice cream, go to a baseball game, wear red-white-blue items, and now your own ideas.
