Gas Prices Continue Slide, Down to $3.57 a Gallon at one ARCO

Average price in San Diego County is $3.773—the lowest since July 12 and 4.7 cents less than one week ago.

The cost of regular gas in La Mesa continued to drop slightly with the lowest price Saturday for self-serve posted at $3.57.  

That’s the price at the 9600 Murray Dr. ARCO station near Grossmont Boulevard—down from $3.63 last week.

Several other local stations have lowered their prices up to 5 cents, according to GasBuddy.com, which reflects prices within the past 24 hours.

The ARCO stations at 4925 Spring St. at Mills Street sells a gallon for $3.64. The ARCOs at 7594 University Ave. and 7974 University are selling regular for $3.64.

The Union 76 at 6085 Lake Murray Blvd., ARCO at 3775 Massachusetts Ave. at Waite Drive and Emerald Oil at 5600 Baltimore Dr. at Lake Murray Boulevard all are selling regular for $3.65.

The average price in San Diego County, $3.773—the lowest since July 12—is 4.7 cents less than one week ago and nine-tenths of a cent lower than a month ago but 61.2 cents higher than a year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

 Analysts attribute the declining pump prices to the falling price of crude oil. The price of a barrel of benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange settled Tuesday at its lowest price since Sept. 29, dropping $2.01 to $79.30.  

According to AAA, the national average is down to $3.601, down from $3.707 last week.
