Introducing Genevieve Suzuki as the New Editor of La Mesa Courier
Pam Crooks: "I am proud to have played a role in launching the LMC, and wouldn't trade anything for the experience of editing it for the last 13 months, or the wonderful people I met along the way."

The following was sent Wednesday to friends of the La Mesa Courier by the outgoing editor:
To the editor:
It is with a sense of accomplishment that I write to let you know I am stepping down as editor of the La Mesa Courier. I say “accomplishment,” because after 15 years without one, we now have a print newspaper that is here to stay in La Mesa!

I am proud to have played a role in launching the LMC, and wouldn’t trade anything for the experience of editing it for the last 13 months, or the wonderful people I met along the way.
They confirmed what I knew all along: La Mesa is a great place to live—deserving of a hometown paper where residents can find out more about their town’s history, accomplished neighbors, great restaurants, up and coming businesses, elected officials, real estate trends, school news, cultural activities and Centennial events. Just to name a few of the topics covered so far!

The best part is, local reporting and features about La Mesa will continue under the professional leadership of the Courier’s new editor, Genevieve Suzuki!
Gen is a La Mesa resident who also serves as editor of our sister paper, the Mission Times Courier. (The MTC is a much-loved and read community paper with a circulation of 30,000 serving the neighborhoods of San Carlos, Del Cerro, Allied Gardens, etc.; since 1995.)
She has written extensively for La Mesa Patch, and some of her stories have already appeared in the LMC. I couldn’t be happier that she’s the one taking over the reins of the La Mesa Courier. I will continue as assistant editor for the next couple of months during the transition, but at this point you should begin sending your press releases and story ideas to Gen@LaMesaCourier.com.
Special thanks to Kathy Crawford, my assistant editor. I couldn’t have gotten through this past year without her. She and I would both like to thank you for your support, encouragement, great articles and many, many story ideas over the past year.
Please join me in thanking Publisher Jim Madaffer of Mission Publishing Group for taking a chance on launching a great community newspaper in La Mesa, and welcoming Gen Suzuki as its new editor.
