Modern War Veterans Sought for La Mesa Council Salute on May 24
Americans who fought in conflicts since Vietnam are asked to RSVP City Hall for latest in series of recognitions.
The city is seeking what it calls “Modern War Veterans.”
U.S. military veterans who served in wars after Vietnam are being invited to the May 24 La Mesa City Council meeting—the latest event to honor local veterans.
The City Council will take a moment to honor these military personnel for their service during the 6 p.m. meeting at council chambers in City Hall, 8130 Allison Ave.

Last month, the council recognized Vietnam War veterans. Earlier, Korean War, World War II and Pearl Harbor survivors were saluted for their valor.
The recognitions culminate June 3 when La Mesa’s Fletcher Parkway is designated as Veterans Memorial Parkway during a ceremony at Parkway Middle School.
Recent war veterans are asked to RSVP the City at 619‑667‑1105.

Donations for the Veterans Memorial Parkway signs can still be made—payable to the City of La Mesa and noted for the project. For information, contact the City Manager’s Office at 619-667-1105.
