Woman Killed In Crash After Car Hits Tree On Lakeside Road
The person's vehicle went off a roadway, hit a tree and caught fire, CHP said.
LAKESIDE, CA — A woman whose vehicle crashed into a tree in Lakeside has died, police reported Monday.
Just before 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, the California Highway Patrol responded to the fiery scene of the solo-vehicle crash.
CHP officers said it appeared that the woman was driving her BMW 325i northbound on Wildcat Canyon Road, north of Muth Valley Road when, for unknown reasons, the car veered to the right and left the roadway.

The BMW traveled up an embankment and struck a tree, and the injured driver then managed to get out of the car before it became engulfed in flames, according to the CHP.
Emergency personnel responded, but the woman, whose identity was not released, died at the scene, the CHP reported.

CHP officials were investigating the incident and could not yet determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
