Steele Canyon Rains on Senior Night Parade at Grossmont High School
Foothillers fall to league unbeaten Cougars 30-18 as spirited crowd watches in the cold, rain.
Grossmont High School saw an 18-17 lead washed away in the fourth quarter amid a rainy Senior Night—the last regular season home game of the season. In the final quarter, league unbeaten Steele Canyon Charter High School scored two touchdowns to win 30-18.
The Cougars drew first blood. The Hillers followed in the first quarter, but the extra point was blocked. The Cougars scored again, and Grossmont matched the TD but failed to make a 2-point conversion in the first 12 minutes.
In the second quarter, the Cougars were held to a field goal, while the Hillers went ahead 18-17 at halftime. An intermittent rain kept the home crowd small, but didn’t dampen their spirits.
In the fourth quarter, Steele Canyon went on to reach the final score of 30-18, raising their overall record to 7-2 going into a finale Thursday against Helix Charter High School.
Hiller scorers were Ryan Davis-Tucker, Marlon Lampard and Jeff Bowers.
