Viral Video Vote: Grossmont High School Needs Your Clicks to Win $30,000

Darion Johnston: "We are competing against 14 other schools in the nation to see which school can market the Hurley brand and its ideals the best."

To the editor:

We need your help.

Grossmont High School—along with Poway, Lincoln and Carlsbad—is in a viral video competition called Hurley Walk the Walk. We are competing against 14 other schools in the nation to see which school can market the Hurley brand and its ideals the best.

The winning school could receive up to $30,000, which would all go to the students. The national championship will be at the U.S. Open in Huntington Beach this summer, where the top four schools get to perform in front of thousands. It would be great if those schools were all from San Diego County!

We really need some support and hope that La Mesa Patch will help us publicize this contest and get people to vote online for our schools.

You do not need to be a student to vote; all you need is an email address. We need people to go to Hurley.com/wtw, make an account (or log into an account previously created) and vote for Grossmont, Carlsbad, Lincoln and Poway. Voting Round 2 ends this Friday (4/22) at midnight with Rounds 3 and 4 still to come.

I hope that you take the time to help us out by publicizing this contest and help each school get votes. Your support is what will make the difference for these high schools in San Diego County.

 Sincerely,

Darion Johnston
