2 Injured In Bay Area Freeway Shooting

The California Highway Patrol is seeking tips from the public on the shooting that shut down eastbound state Highway 24.

ORINDA, CA—A freeway shooting Sunday on state Highway 24 in Orinda was under investigation by detectives assigned to the California Highway Patrol’s Golden Gate Division Special Investigations Unit.

Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, a driver called 911 and said they'd just been shot while traveling on eastbound SR-24 near the Fish Ranch Road onramp. In addition to the driver, a passenger was also struck by gunfire.

The two victims were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries suffered in the shooting.

The eastbound lanes were closed for about an hour to allow detectives to investigate the scene.

CHP detectives were working to determine a motive in the shooting and identify the car and suspect —or suspects —involved. Detectives asked anyone with information regarding the incident to call the CHP investigative Tipline at 707-917-4491.
