Authorities Identify Motorcyclist Killed In Orinda Crash
A motorcyclist who died in a Highway 24 collision leaves behind a young son.
LAMORINDA, CA — The Contra Costa County coroner's office has identified a motorcyclist killed early Saturday in an Orinda collision.
At 12:05 a.m., Marcos Amaral, 30, of Antioch, was on his motorcycle traveling westbound on state Highway 24, east of Saint Stephens Drive, as was the driver of a BMW SUV when they collided, the California Highway Patrol said.
Amaral suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Amaral leaves behind a young son who was "the love of his life," his mother said in a social media post.

The BMW driver, whose name was not disclosed, was not injured. The on-scene investigation indicated he was driving under the influence and he was arrested on suspicion of DUI-related charges, the CHP said.
