East Bay Woman, 36, Dies In Crash Near Lafayette
Authorities said the Tesla driver may have suffered a medical emergency that caused her to lose control of her car.

LAMORINDA, CA — A woman who died in a solo-vehicle crash Wednesday near Lafayette was identified by the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office as Janice Yu, 36, of Dublin.
Authorities believe Yu may have suffered a medical emergency that caused her to lose control of her car.
The fatal crash was reported at 6:56 p.m. Wednesday on state Highway 24 near Pleasant Hill Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Yu was driving alone in a Tesla Model S on westbound SR-24 when her car left the roadway and collided with a tree, the CHP said.
CHP and emergency medical personnel responded. Yu was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

CHP's initial investigation indicated she may have suffered a life-threatening medical emergency, causing her car to lose control of her car.
