Orinda Resident Detained In Homicide Investigation: Sheriff's Office
An Orinda resident died Thursday in a shooting, and his death was considered a homicide.
ORINDA, CA — Authorities have detained an Orinda resident in connection with a fatal shooting Thursday.
The shooting was reported shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday in the area of Las Vegas Road and La Espiral Road near the Charles Hill neighborhood of Orinda. Responding police officers found one gunshot vicitm and immediately took life-saving measures, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's office said.
Personnel from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District and an ambulance crew also responded; however, they were not able to revive the man, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities were not disclosing his identity at the time of publication.
One person was detained for further investigation, sheriff's office Spokesperson Jimmy Lee said.

"Both parties involved are residents of Orinda," Lee said. "This is an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public."
Local streets in the area of St. Stephens Drive and Las Vegas Road were cordoned off until nearly 6 p.m. Thursday as a homicide investigation was conducted. Crime lab and homicide detectives were still at the scene Thursday evening, Lee said.
