Vehicle burglaries, DUI arrests and a warning from police about parking at the Wilder sports fields

Orinda police officers made two driving under the influence arrests last week.

One was for a felony DUI with injuries while the other was a DUI involving a traffic collision.

There was also a residential burglary reported at a home in the 90 block of Lombardi Lane.

There was also a commercial burglary reported in the 10 block of Moraga Way. In that instance, a store window was smashed.

There were four reports of vehicle burglaries. One occurred at Miramonte High School. Another happened in the 20 block of Marston Road while a third was reported in the 30 block of Valley View. The fourth auto burglary did not have a location listed.

A grand theft of jewelry was reported on Wilder.

Police said there has been an increase in vehicle break-ins at the Wilder playing fields in the Gateway Valley. Officers caution drivers to not leave any valuables in their car at those fields.

Orinda officers also participated in the National Take Back Initiative on Oct. 26. They collected 36 pounds of expired medications from residents. Expired medications can also be tossed out during business hours Monday through Friday at the bins located in the main lobby at City Hall.
