Smoke Expected In North Orinda As Prescribed Burn Continues
Some smoke will be visible to residents in Sleepy Hollow and other parts of North Orinda.

LAMORINDA, CA — A prescribed burn project that started last week in Orinda was continuing this week.
Operations in the North Orinda Shaded Fuel Break adjacent to Bear Creek Road in Orinda were scheduled to begin around 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burning should be concluded by 5 p.m., the Moraga-Orinda Fire District said on Facebook.
Some smoke will be visible to residents in Sleepy Hollow and other parts of North Orinda. Affected residents should close exterior doors and windows to keep smoke from entering their homes, the fire district said.

Signs cautioning motorists and cyclists of fire equipment traffic and the potential of reduced visibility were posted in the area.

The project started Wednesday. The fire district, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and Contra Costa County Public Works were working together to ensure the burn was conducted safely and with minimal impacts on the community.

If burning conditions become unfavorable the project will be rescheduled.
