Suspect Collides With Car While Evading Officers, Lafayette Police Say
An incident that initially involved a reckless driver shut down Happy Valley Road in Lafayette.
LAFAYETTE, CA — The Lafayette Police Department explained police activity that took place Wednesday, resulting in the closure of Happy Valley Road.
Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Lafayette officers were helping Moraga officers locate a reckless driver who entered Lafayette. When officers located the car on Mt. Diablo Boulevard, police allege the male driver took off.
"The suspect turned onto Happy Valley Road and while trying to pass a car, he clipped it and ran into another vehicle," Lafayette police said.

The suspect ran off but was apprehended.
Happy Valley Road was shut down between Mt. Diablo Boulevard and the Wells Fargo Bank branch but was reopened around 5 p.m., police said.

Lafayette did not disclose the suspect's name or any other details.
