Town Of Moraga's 50th Anniversary Celebration Set For Saturday
Festivities include a parade with over 700 participants, followed by the annual Pear and Wine Festival with commemorative activities.

MORAGA, CA — The Town of Moraga is excited to host Moraga’s 50th Birthday Celebration Parade and Pear and Wine Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. on the corner of School Street and Country Club Drive, followed by the annual Pear and Wine Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Moraga Commons Park.
This year’s festival is extra special as the town celebrates 50 years. Fun activities, including commemorative events, are in store for the whole family.

Event Highlights
- Pear and Local Wine Tastings: Delight in pear-inspired treats and sample local wines from local vineyards.
- Live Music and Entertainment: Enjoy live music performances throughout the day and a special appearance from "America’s Funniest Cowgirl,” Karen Quest at the Bandshell.
- Artisan Vendors and Crafts: Explore handmade goods from local artisans, perfect for gifts or personal mementos.
- Children’s Activities: Kids can enjoy a day full of activities including bounce houses, a petting zoo, and a real tractor!
- Food and Beverage Booths: Savor a variety of delicious food and drink offerings.

- Community Parade: The festival starts with the 50th Anniversary Parade at 10 a.m., featuring local schools, businesses, community groups, bands, stilt walkers, classic cars and more leading up to the main event. There are over 700 participants set to be in the parade.
- Commemorative Tree Planting: At noon, join the town for a special 50th Anniversary Tree Planting Ceremony to celebrate Moraga’s growth and community spirit over the past 50 years.
- Announcement of Local Award Winners: At 1 p.m., help congratulate the 2024 winners of the Business of the Year, Nonprofit of the Year, and Citizen of the Year with a special presentation at the stage.
- Pie Contest: Test those baking skills in the Pie Contest, judged by the Moraga Parks and Recreation Commission. Bring your pies to the Parks and Recreation tent between 11:30 a.m.-noon. Bakers will compete for the title of the best pie in town, with the winner(s) announced at 2 p.m.
- Recognition of 50+ Year Residents by the Mayor: Head to the stage at 3 p.m. if you’ve lived in Moraga for more than 50 years in order to be recognized by the mayor for your commitment and support of the town.
New Additions
- "Pear Necessities" Store: Visit the Parks and Recreation Department’s "Pear Necessities" store to pick up new festival merchandise, including the 50th Anniversary Moraga Cookbook, which features recipes from the community along with Moraga’s wonderful history. Other festival- and pear-themed items will also be available for purchase, making for great keepsakes to remember this special event.
This year’s Parade and Pear and Wine Festival is billed as a "fantastic opportunity to celebrate Moraga’s rich history and join in the festivities." Whether you're a long-time resident or a visitor, something is promised for everyone.
