Author Of 'Push' Comes To Marin
Sapphire, whose first book became the movie 'Precious,' is at Book Passage tonight with her second effort, 'The Kid.'

From the end of one tale comes the beginning of another by author Sapphire, who's first story Push first introduced readers to Claireece Precious Jones.
Sapphire's new offering, The Kid, begins with Precious' death which leaves her sole child, 9-year-old Abdul, an orphan.
Life for Abdul is no easier than it was for his mother as he suffers abuse as a child that sends him down a dark path.
Sapphire brings Abdul's tale to Book Passage tonight at 7 p.m. as she continues her book tour.
Once again, Sapphire is unflinching in her examination of lives affected by violence, AIDS and discrimination. Her vivid accounts have often been described as hard to read, but that didn't stop her first book Push from becoming a bestseller, which was later transformed by Hollywood into Precious.
