TCPD Log July 13-19: Suspects Arrested For Stealing Metal From Niven Property
Stolen car discovered after sitting in plain sight for a year; teen party gets out of hand.
Twin Cities Police Officers responded to the Niven Property on Ward St. for a Security Officer reporting that he had a subject detained for trespassing. On arrival, it was determined the subject was involved in the theft of items from the property. Another involved subject was located walking away from the property.
Officers also located a vehicle nearby that was being used by the subjects and it was determined to be a vehicle that had been stolen from the Larkspur Boardwalk on July 1, 2011. Both subjects were booked into the Marin County Jail.
Police responded to a report of subjects arguing in the 140 block of Granada Drive. It was determined there was a juvenile party in progress with alcohol being consumed. Numerous subjects left the residence prior to Officers being able to contact them. The remaining subjects were released to their parents. A 16-year-old Corte Madera female was issued a Notice of Violation for the Corte Madera Social Host Ordinance and released to a relative.
A resident in the 300 block of Via La Cumbre reported that his house had been egged by unknown subjects.
A resident of the 10 block of Via La Cumbre reported that her unlocked vehicle was entered in the area of her residence. Taken were a GPS unit and a pair of sunglasses. Total loss was estimated at $350.
A resident in the 60 block of Pixley Avenue reported there was a vehicle on the street that had been parked there for approximately one year without moving. While investigating the vehicle, the officer determined that the plate on the vehicle did not belong to it. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen to the San Mateo Police Department on June 12, 2010. The vehicle was towed from the area and removed from the Stolen Vehicle System.
A business in the Village Shopping Center reported that 15 pairs of sunglasses, for a total value of $4,000, were stolen. The theft was unwitnessed. A Grand Theft report was taken for documentation.
While on patrol, a TCPD Officer located a vehicle parked at Neil Cummins Elementary school that had been reported stolen from the Corte Madera Town Center on July 11, 2011. The ignition had been punched and the catalytic converter was missing. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
A Loss Prevention Officer for Nordstrom, in the Village Shopping Center, reported he had subject detained for the theft of merchandise valued at $185. A Richmond woman was arrested for Commercial Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia and Violation of Probation. She was booked at the Marin County Jail.
A Novato resident reported that while her vehicle was parked on in the lot of Shorebird Park on Redwood Highway, it was broken into via the driver’s side window being smashed and her purse was taken. Loss was estimated at $150. An Auto Burglary report was taken for documentation.
While on patrol, a TCPD Officer located an occupied vehicle in the 200 block of Nellen Ave. A San Rafael man was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia and Violation of Probation. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.
While on patrol, a TCPD Officer located an occupied vehicle in the 200 block of Nellen Avenue. The occupant, a San Rafael woman, was arrested for Possession of Prescription Medication without a Prescription and released on a citation.
A resident in the 10 block of Birch Ave. reported that she had just witnessed the theft of her bicycle from the front porch of her residence by a juvenile male. A check of the area for the subject met with negative results, but the bicycle was located in the area and reunited with the owner.
Pursuant to a traffic stop on E. Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in the area of Remillard Park, a Richmond woman was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol. She was booked at the Marin County Jail.
A business in the Village Shopping Center reported that a man had just stolen a $209 pair of sunglasses. The area was checked for the subject with negative results.

Loss Prevention Officers at Macy’s in the Village Shopping Center reported they had a subject detained for a theft of merchandise valued at $272. An American Canyon woman was arrested for shoplifting and released on a citation.
A San Rafael woman reported that her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the area of Bed Bath and Beyond in the Marin Country Mart. The purse contained only miscellaneous items as she had her wallet with her at the time the purse was taken.
While checking on an alarm at a business in the Bon Air Shopping Center, a TCPD Officer located an intoxicated subject. A San Rafael Man was booked at the Marin County Jail for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.
A Napa resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in the Corte Madera Town Center, the catalytic converter was stolen.
A resident in the 20 block of Mohawk Avenue reported that someone had spray painted white paint over the “Obama” sticker on her vehicle. The vandalism was unwitnessed.
A resident of the 10 block of Harbor Drive reported that while his truck was parked in the area of his residence, a blue Trek 27 speed bicycle valued at $1,200 was stolen from within the camper shell.
Pursuant to a traffic stop on Redwood Highway at the Cost Plus Plaza, a Ross teen was arrested for Possession of a Fictitious Government Identification and being a Minor in Possession of Alcohol. He was released on a citation. Three other passengers, a Ross female, a Greenbrae female and a Larkspur male, were reprimanded and released for being Minors in Possession of Alcohol.
TCPD units responded to a report by Corte Madera Town Center Security of an intoxicated subject sleeping on a bench in the area of the il Fornaio restaurant. A Berkeley man was located and arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place. He wasbooked at the Marin County Jail.
During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 328 calls for service. This included one accident with minor injuries, four hit and run accidents and 11 property damage only accidents. There was one auto burglary and one commercial burglary. There were three calls related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in one arrest.
