Pedestrian Attacks Driver; Parents Call Cops On Kids; Stolen Cars Found

The following information was provided by the Twin Cities Police for the week of June 27 to July 3, 2012. Arrests do not necessarily mean convictions.

• A resident of the 40 block of Stetson Avenue reported there had been a physical fight outside her residence, after which she saw three male subjects running down the street after they had crashed their vehicle into another vehicle parked in front of her residence.  Three subjects were located down the block. Contact was made with two Larkspur juvenile males and a Corte Madera juvenile male.

One of the juveniles advised he was attacked by a male subject who was walking his dog.  The juvenile advised while being attacked he lost control of the vehicle and hit a parked car in the area of the 40 block of Stetson Avenue.  The juveniles said they got scared and ran from the male subject. 

Contact was made with the owner of the parked vehicle and the juvenile’s parents and names were exchanged for the damages to the vehicle.  Parents responded to the scene to pick up their children. A report was taken for the assault and further action is pending identification of the suspect.

• A resident in the 10 block of Hickory Avenue reported he received a call from his ex-wife stating she arrived home and found their son had broken into her residence.  He stated their son was possibly using heroin.  Officers responded and located the son in the residence.  A Corte Madera man was arrested for Residential Burglary and Possession of Hypodermic Needles.  He was booked at Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 20 block of Redwood Avenue reported her adult son, who does not live at the residence, was violent and in the apartment "tearing the place up".  She stated he broke her front door and the television.  While Officers were en route, the subject left the residence.  The caller stated that he had taken her credit card and checks. A San Francisco man was located and taken into custody without incident.  He was booked into the Marin County Jail, for Preventing a Phone Call to 911, Vandalism, and Violation of Probation.

• A San Rafael resident reported that while he was at a business in the 500 block of Magnolia Avenue, he observed a woman was beating another woman whom she identified as her mother.  He advised that he intervened and obtained the vehicle license plate number.   The involved subjects were located. An Elder Abuse report was taken and there is further action pending.

• A Novato resident reported his vehicle, which had been parked in the lot at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal, was stolen.  Officers checked the area and the vehicle was not located.  An Auto Theft report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.  The Oakland Police Department later reported they had recovered the vehicle and had one suspect in custody.  The owner was notified to retrieve his vehicle.  There is further investigation pending.

• A resident of the 800 block of Via Casitas reported the theft of items from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the carport at the above location.  He advised that the theft occurred in April and he was unsure of the exact date.  One of the items taken was an iPod.  A Theft report was taken for documentation.

• A resident of the 20 block of El Camino Drive reported the theft of some gold Spanish jewelry, a gold watch, a gold chain and $100 cash was taken from her purse in her residence.  She reported she believes a contractor she had met in AA is involved.  The approximate loss is $1,400.  A Grand Theft report was taken and there is possible follow-up pending.

• While on patrol in the area of the Bon Air Shopping Center, a TCPA Officer located a subject who was yelling.  Contact was made with a Greenbrae woman who was determined to have an outstanding arrest warrant.  She was arrested and booked at the Marin County Jail for the Warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A business in the 50 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard reported she found a broken window.  She advised when she entered the business, the alarm was still set.  It appeared the break-in was an attempted burglary only as nothing appears to be missing.  An Attempted Commercial Burglary report was taken for documentation.  A broken window was also located at a second business in the same area with no entry appearing to have been made.  A second Attempted Commercial Burglary report was taken.

• A resident in the 300 block of Bretano Way reported she just walked into her residence and saw several drawers were open.  Loss is approximately $8,400.  A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A resident of the 400 block of William Avenue reported the theft of a $100 Macy's Gift Card from his Post Office box that has since been used at the Corte Madera Macy’s, located in the Village Shopping Center.  Documentation was provided for the incident and he was referred to the Postal Inspector.

• A Sausalito resident reported her private locker room was entered and $300 in cash, two small Luis Vuitton purses valued at approximately $600, and a Cartier 18K gold pill box valued at $1,000 were taken.  She stated she was also contacted by her bank advising that a credit card was used this afternoon for a $200 charge.  She reported her locker room is in a private area where a key pad is used to enter.  A Commercial Burglary report was taken and there is possible follow-up pending.

• A resident of the 10 block of Edgemar Way reported via 9-1-1 that a male subject was pounding on their front door trying to get in. Officers responded and located the subject.  A Corte Madera man was arrested for Public Intoxication and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• The Richmond Police Department reported they had recovered a vehicle reported as stolen to this department on June 23, 2012, from the 1800 block of Redwood Hwy.  The vehicle was not damaged, stripped or burned, no plates were missing and there is no one in custody.   The owner was notified.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported a check fraud case which occurred in June, 2012, in which the suspect may have used their real identification.  A Fraud report was taken and there is follow-up pending.

• A resident of the 10 block of Arrowhead Lane reported a fraudulent check was written against her account in Arizona.  A Fraud report was taken.

• An Ann Arbor, Mich., resident reported while his vehicle was parked and locked in a lot at the Corte Madera Town Center, it was entered and a briefcase containing, approximately $1,700 cash, an iPad, a debit card, business checks, personal checks and a Passport, along with other items, were taken from the trunk. He stated he called his bank to cancel his debit card and.  An Auto Burglary report was taken.

• A caller reported two highly intoxicated subjects were seen getting into a vehicle in the parking lot at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal. They stated the vehicle was speeding through the parking lot, honking at pedestrians and almost hit parked vehicles.  Officers checked the area with negative results.

• A resident of the 10 block of Laderman Lane reported the theft of two mountain bikes, a men's black 24 speed Cannondale hybrid and a women's black 21 speed Specialized Cruiser, valued together ant approximately $2,000, from their open garage.  No one was seen or heard.  A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• An apartment building in the 500 block of South Eliseo Drive reported storage units there were broken into during the night.  A Residential Burglary report was taken.  There is additional follow-up pending.

• A resident of the 900 block of Magnolia Avenue reported a window smash to the rear driver side window of his vehicle.  Nothing appeared to have been taken.  Documentation was provided for the Vandalism.

• A Corte Madera resident reported while he was at the Silver Peso Bar, located at 450 Magnolia Ave., his cell phone was stolen.   Documentation was provided for the theft and there is possible further investigation pending.

• A resident of the 700 building of Old Quarry Road South reported there is a verbal argument between two other roommates. Contact was made with the two females.  A report was taken for an assault between the female subjects.   Medical responded to the scene for one of the subjects who began to have difficulty breathing during this incident.  She was medically treated at the scene.

• Pursuant to being contacted while walking in the area of the 10 block of Drakes Way, a homeless man was arrested for an outstanding warrant, held by the Marin County Sherriff’s Office.  He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A business in the 20 block of Ward Street reported a break-in via a window smash to a rear window.  A cash register drawer had been taken.  Also taken were an iPhone, an iPad, and approximately $9 in cash.  A Commercial Burglary report was taken.

• A resident of the 30 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard reported her garden hose, which was hooked to the hose bib on the side of her house, was stolen.  The approximate loss is $40.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A resident of the 400 block of Redwood Avenue reported someone made entry to their residence.  Items that were taken include a computer, iPad, jewelry box, passport, and Social Security cards.  No Signs of forced entry were located.  A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A resident of the 10 block of Via Belardo reported entry to his locked storage.  Items taken included an air compressor, drill gun, and bicycle for a loss of approximately $660.  A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A resident of the 10 block of Blue Rock Court reported the theft of a box of checks and other identification items taken.  A report was taken for Identity Theft.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 304 calls for service.  This included 1 call related to accidents with minor injuries, 2 hit and run accidents and 6 property damage only accidents.  There was 1 auto burglary, 3 commercial burglaries and 5 residential burglaries.  There was 1 call related to Driving while Intoxicated.
