Here are some of the headlines that highlighted the week:
• Anastasia Lukianchikov (Life Science) and Katherine Woolard (Physical Science) shared the Grand Prize at the Redwood High School science fair. Lukianchikov won for her project on the Effect of Resonant Frequencies on the Bacterium Bacillus Cereus. Woolard won for her entry on the Effect of Different Types of Base Oils in Biodiesel.
Zach Cohen (Physical Sciences) won the Thomas Nguyen Award for his examination of The Correlation Between a Watermelon's Density and …. Sugar Content, also called, how to pick a ripe watermelon.

First-place winners were: Liza Rodler and Jennifer Stryker (Behavioral Sciences), Josephine Nordrum (Computers & Math), Maverick Chen and Molly Hunt (Engineering), E. Celler and Grace Goodrich (Environmental Sciences), Alexander Ehrenberg and Lukianchikov (Life Sciences), and Joseph Poen, Cohen and Woolard (Physical Sciences).
They are all among the students who qualified for the Marin County Science Fair.

• Jeffrey Ciocca of San Rafael was arrested by Twin Cities police Wednesday night for driving under the influence and was charged with hitting three parked cars in the Meadowsweet Drive and Casa Buena Drive area.
Ciocca, 56, has three prior DUI convictions since 2005 and was ordered to have an alcohol detection device connected to his car's ignition. He was allegedly driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, and without the ignition-locking device on his car.
Ciocca's alleged blood-alcohol level was .202 percent. The legal limit is .08 percent.
He is expected in court on Monday.
• Timothy McGowan of Mill Valley, was arrested coming out of Marin Joe's for possession of stolen property. The car, matching the description of a stolen vehicle reported to the CHP, was discovered by Twin Cities Police Officer Ryan Suhrke on Thursday night at the restaurant.
• Twin Cities police are investigating a possible link between a pair of strong-arm robberies in Marin County. Starbuck's Coffee at Marin Country Mart was held up by two armed suspects on Jan. 28. Earlier in the week, two suspects matching a similar description, held up a McDonald's in Strawberry.
• Redwood High's boys basketball team went 2-1 during the week with wins over Tamalpais and Marin Catholic to improve its overall record to 15-9 with two games left in the regular season. The Giants' girls squad (12-13) capped a 1-2 week Saturday with a victory over Drake.
• Redwood High sophomore Doug Pardella amazed the judges and the audience at the Marin Arts Council Gallery with his recitations of Carl Sandburg's "I am the People, the Mob," and Edward Arlington Robinson's "Richard Corey," as he won the Marin County Poetry Out Loud Competition. Pardella will go on to compete in the state finals in Sacramento.
• The Town of Corte Madera went over its budget with a fine-toothed comb on Tuesday and all the department heads agreed there isn't much left to cut. The town is exploring various other sources of funding and cost-saving measures.
• WinCup, the manufacturer of disposable containers, is expected to close its Corte Madera plant in June as part of a national consolidation plan.
• The Golden Gate Ferry changed its afternoon and evening schedule between Larkspur Landing and San Francisco, eliminating some runs and adjusting other departure times.
