Vandals Hit Neil Cummins School

Twin Cities Police Log April 25-May 1: Corte Madera man arrested after reportedly hitting his girlfriend while she was holding an infant.

• An employee of Neil Cummins School reported paint was thrown on the outside of the building. A group of male juveniles were seen earlier in the PE closet and may be the responsible subjects. He stated he was unsure when the incident occurred, but the paint is still wet. The area was checked, but no subjects were located. A Vandalism report was taken for documentation.

• A resident of the 30 block of San Clemente Drive reported via 9-1-1, her boyfriend pushed her and hit her in her head when she was carrying her 2-month old baby. Officers contacted the caller and boyfriend. A Corte Madera man was arrested for Domestic Battery and Child Endangerment. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 100 block of Lower Via Casitas reported her bikes are missing from her storage unit. Taken were a white Santa Cruz Juliana mountain bike valued at $1,999 and a brown and red Mongoose mountain bike valued at $500. A Residential Burglary Report was taken for documentation.

• An employee of Redwood High School reported a student ran out after staff asked to search him for suspected contraband. The student was caught near the ball field and brought back to the school. TCPA Officers responded and a Belvedere juvenile male was arrested for Possession of Marijuana on a School Campus. He was released to school staff on a citation.

• Redwood High School requested a Twin Cities Police Officer respond due to having a San Anselmo juvenile female student who is under the influence. After meeting with the Officer, it was determined school officials would handle the incident themselves.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the 600 block of Via Casitas, a Greenbrae juvenile male was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, and Disobeying a Lawful Order. He was released to a parent on a citation at the scene. A small amount of marijuana seized.

• A San Rafael resident reported he had parked his vehicle in the upper lot of the Marin Airporter, located at 300 Larkspur Landing Circle, and now it is gone. An Auto Theft report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System. The vehicle was later located, unoccupied and undamaged, by the Novato Police Department. The owner was notified and the vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System.

• A resident of the 30 block of Alta Way reported her unlocked vehicle was accessed and quarters were stolen from the glove box.

• A business in the 400 block of Magnolia Avenue reported the fraudulent use of a business credit card with multiple transactions in East Bay. The fraud occurred at stores in Colma and San Jose. She advised that she is in possession of her credit card. A Fraud report was taken.

• TCPA received notification from the Novato Police Department that a Novato resident’s credit card was used at Trader Joe's and Big 5 Sporting Goods. The victim was contacted and a Fraud report was taken. There is possible further investigation pending.

• A juvenile female Corte Madera resident who is a student at Redwood High School reported her black iPhone 4, in a white rubber case, was taken from her backpack while she was at school. A Theft report was taken for documentation.

• TCPA received a report via a transfer from the California Highway Patrol of a possible drunk driver in the area of U.S. Highway 101 and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The area was checked and the Officers were unable to locate the reported vehicle.

• Officers responded to a residence in the 30 block of San Clemente Drive due to a 9-1-1 call where crying and yelling was heard and the caller stated she needed Police assistance. The line was disconnected three times prior to Officers arrival. Officers responded and contacted two sisters who advised they were involved in mutual combat. Both parties refused any action against the other. The situation was mediated.

• The manager for the REI Store, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, requested to speak to an Officer regarding a person who comes into the store on a regular basis, steals, and conducts fraudulent refunds. The subject is known to frequent multiple REI Stores in the Bay Area, but was not there then. The Officer contacted the manager and a Commercial Burglary report was taken. Several days later, the REI manager called again and advised the subject was in the store returning items that had previously been stolen. Officers located a Foster City man who was arrested for Commercial Burglary. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• An employee of the Lucky Store, located at 570 Magnolia Ave., reported a subject in custody for the theft of $11 worth of merchandise. A Kentfield juvenile female was arrested for shoplifting. She was released on a citation to a vice-principal at Redwood High School.

• A caller reported a possible drunk driver in the area of the 100 block of East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard who was swerving and almost hit the curb. They advised the vehicle was last seen turning into the Ferry Terminal. Officers located the vehicle and contacted a San Rafael woman who advised she was had not been drinking, she was just tired.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Piedmont Road, Officers arrested a Rohnert Park man for an outstanding warrant held by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Skylark Drive, a Concord man was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A caller reported a vehicle parked in the lot at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal with the doors locked and the engine running. The owner was contacted and confirmed the vehicle is not stolen. He took a ferry earlier in the day and did not realize he left the vehicle running.

• A resident in the 600 block of South Eliseo Drive reported the theft of items from her unlocked vehicle. Items taken included prescription glasses, a cell phone charger, and fabric swatches. There were no signs of forced entry. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A San Rafael resident reported he parked his vehicle in a three hour space in the area of the Wipeout Bar and Grill, located in the Bon Air Shopping Center, and now the vehicle was missing. An Officer found the vehicle a short distance away at Drakes View Circle and Drakes Landing Road. It was determined the vehicle was stolen and the stereo was taken from it along with a weed whacker. An Auto theft report was taken.

• A San Rafael resident reported he lost a credit card, he possibly left it at a bar last night, and now someone is now using the card. It was used at PF Chang's and at Rite Aid, both located in the Corte Madera Town Center shopping center. He said that PF Chang’s has video of the involved subject. He advised that he had already filed a case with the San Rafael Police Department. A Fraud report was taken and there is further investigation pending.

• Via a 9-1-1 transfer from the California Highway Patrol, a Corte Madera resident reported that while he was in the area of the Corte Madera Town Center Chevron Station, 90 Madera Blvd., a male subject hassled him for money. When he told him “no”, the subject got mad and punched the vehicle and put a dent in it. A Vandalism report was taken for documentation. The area was checked for the subject with negative results.

• A resident of the 30 block of El Portal Drive reported someone broke into their storage unit. It was unknown at the time of the report if anything is missing. A cell phone that did not belong to them was found in the storage unit. A Residential Burglary report was taken and there is further investigation pending.

• A resident of the 70 block of Corte Del Norte reported her lock was broken off her storage unit, and a heater was taken. A Residential Burglary report was taken for documentation.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 305 calls for service. This included one call related to hit and run accidents and eight property damage only accidents. There was one commercial burglary and five residential burglaries. There were two calls related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in one arrest.
