Wildcats, Bryne Power Up For Baseball Semis

Around Town May 29-30: Marin Catholic baseball hosts Justin-Siena in the North Coast Section playoffs today.

Ryan Bryne is carrying some heavy expectations and a heavy bat for Marin Catholic.

The Wildcats trounced McKinleyville 14-2 in five innings on Friday. Top-seeded Marin Catholic baseball (18-7-1) is back in action Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Justin-Siena (21-7). The Wildcats are just one step away from the North Coast Section Division 4 championship game.

Bryne pounded out a big triple against McKinleyville and is 4-for-5 in two NCS playoff games.

• Have you been berry picking lately? Drop by the Corte Madera farmers market every Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m. There's a colorful bounty of strawberries, raspberries and even blueberries right now, with blackberries on the way. Try them for breakfast or on a bowl of vanilla ice cream for dessert.
