5 Things for Wednesday: DUIs, Weather, Cub Scouts
News and notes from around Lemon Grove—and the region.

Midweek already! Time flies when you're having fun. Here are today's 5 Things You Need to Know:
5) Number of the Day: 510. That's how many cars passed through a DUI/driver's license checkpoint in about 6 1/2 hours Friday night on Broadway. Two drivers were arrested for suspicion of drunken driving, and sheriff's deputies cited 10 motorists with suspended or revoked licenses or without a license.
Great, right? Read blogger Jim Ellis's post DUI Checkpoints - STOP IT!! for a different take on checkpoints.
4) Economy Looking Up: The Index of Leading Economic Indicators for San Diego County released today by the University of San Diego's Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate rose by 0.1 percent in June, compared to the month before.
The monthly gain was the 10th straight for the index and 18th out of the last 19 months. The index stood at 126.6 in June, 5.4 points above June 2012.
3) Weather Wise: Today's daytime temperatures will be moderately warm, with a high of about 73° F. There will be some clouds. The overnight low should be about 61° F. Expect more of the same through the weekend, according to Weather.com.
2) Clean Out Your Closet: Cub Scout Pack 108 is seeking donations of old clothes to be resold or recycled. The group's goal is to collect 20,000 pounds of textiles. Click here for more details.
