Faith Community Invites Lemon Grove to Good Friday Cross Walk

The annual Good Friday Cross Walk starts at 10 a.m. at Lemon Grove United Methodist Church, 3205 Washington St.


The procession draws hundreds of people from Lemon Grove's faith community celebrating Good Friday. Participants are invited to take a turn carrying a wooden cross in rememberance of the journey Christ made to his crucifixion.


Participants will travel a 1.4 mile route through town to the Lemon Grove Foursquare Church, 2115 Lemon Grove Ave. The group will make stops along the way to offer prayers for the city and its people.

The walk takes about one hour.


A light lunch will be served at 11 a.m. at Lemon Grove Foursquare Church, and an ecumenical service will follow at noon, featuring local pastors speaking on the seven last sayings of Jesus before he died on the cross.

Event organizers Mark and Anne Stapleton of Cornerstone Community Church added the following in the comments section:


”If you cannot join in for the walking portion, please feel free to join at 11:00 a.m. for the luncheon and/or at 12:00 noon for the one-hour Good Friday Service.”
