The Lemon Grove Library, 3001 School Lane, is hosting a Customer Appreciation Open House that includes a San Diego Legends Exhibit Reception.

The event includes an opportunity to meet José Aponte, director of the San Diego County Library, which was named the winner of the national 2012 Library of the Year award.

The event is taking place on Thursday, June 6, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and will include an artist reception and display, dance performance, refreshments, and crafts for kids.

“The Customer Appreciation Open House is San Diego County Library’s way of saying thank you to the people that give us our purpose,” said Aponte. “The public is the driving force behind everything we do, and one of the best parts of my job is getting out and thanking the community for making our libraries great.”

The "San Diego Legends: Living Well" exhibit is an annual recognition comprised of painted portraits, photographs, and impact statements about six local elders who lead by example.

Artist Mona Mills and a San Diego Legend will be on hand to talk about the exhibit.
