• County to pay more than planned for Lemon Grove homeless cabins land (kpbs.org) — San Diego County now plans to buy, rather than lease, Caltrans land at Sweetwater Road and Troy Street in Lemon Grove to build about 60 sleeping cabins for people experiencing homelessness. Neighbors and Lemon Grove city leaders have raised concerns about location and services, while county officials say on-site support and a firm purchase deal could keep the long-planned project on track for construction this summer. 
• Family of woman found in Lemon Grove ditch suing SD County Sheriff's Department (nbcsandiego.com) — A family is suing the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department after 43-year-old Irma Espinoza was later found near death in a Lemon Grove drainage ditch days after a neighbor’s welfare call. The lawsuit claims a deputy’s response and alleged discouragement of further calls left Espinoza without timely help; multiple investigations into the incident are now underway.
• Shane Harris leading backlash against parking fees in Balboa Park (eastcountymagazine.org) — New paid parking rules at Balboa Park mean Lemon Grove residents now pay full tourist rates unless they clear a San Diego resident verification process. Activist Shane Harris is leading a petition and proposed ordinance to repeal the fees, arguing they unfairly burden regional visitors and were approved without a public vote, while city leaders defend them as vital for closing a major budget deficit.
