Poll: Should James Holmes Get the Death Penalty If Convicted in Massacre?

Patch poll in early April found overwhelming support for banishing executions to save money.

James Holmes is now the personification of evil in many people’s minds. Accused of killing 12 people and wounding 58 in a Colorado movie theater, he appeared dazed and confused at his first court appearance Monday.  Now it’s up to the local district attorney on whether the former Rancho Penasquitos resident and Westview High School student should face the death penalty.  But an taken by more than 1,000 people on Patch found overwhelming support (76 percent) for abolition of the death sentence in California. Has your view changed in light of the Aurora massacre?
