12-Year-Old Among 5 Young Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested In Bay Area
Police say a group of teens arrested in Livermore brandished a gun and pistol-whipped a man before running off with his money in San Jose.
LIVERMORE, CA — Five suspects aged 12 to 18 were arrested in Livermore in connection with an armed robbery and physical assault that took place in June in San Jose, according to the police departments of both cities.
On June 23 at around 8:54 p.m., San Jose police responded to reports that four unidentified suspects tried to take a victim's bag as he exited a casino, according to an SJPD news release. One robber brandished a gun at the victim before pistol whipping him, police said. The robbers then took the victim's personal belongings and approximately $2,000 before fleeing the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

SJPD Robbery Unit detectives determined that five male juveniles were the primary suspects, and obtained arrest and search warrants. On Sept. 3-4, officers from the San Jose and Livermore police departments located and arrested five youths in Livermore. Through residential search warrants, detectives say they uncovered evidence linking the suspects to the incident.
The suspects were booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and brandishing a firearm.
