21-Year-Old Victim Of Livermore Head-On Crash Identified

Reports have identified the 21-year-old killed on Highway 84 last week after a car veered into his lane following a race.

LIVERMORE, CA — The victim in a fatal head-on collision on Highway 84 in Livermore was 21-year-old Ryan Joshua Aquino Amigable from Oakley, according to KRON4 and a GoFundMe set up in his memory.

Amigable was killed the evening of July 15 on Highway 84 near Ruby Hill Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol. Investigators believe that two cars in the westbound lane were engaged in a speeding contest. A Lexus lost control and veered into the eastbound lane, colliding head-on with Amigable’s car. He was pronounced dead on the scene, while the Lexus driver sustained major injuries.

A GMC Sierra allegedly involved in the speeding contest and fled the scene, and police are still searching for it as of last week.

Amigable’s friend described him as a “loving big brother and son” in a GoFundMe set up in his honor. He was driving home from work at the time of the accident, though he reportedly liked to stay home because he felt safer there. “All he did was work, stay home, and spend his time in his room posing his action figures, which was his hobby and he loved doing it.”

After the accident, bystanders were unable to help him because he was pinned in and unable to remove the door, according to his family.

“Heartbroken does not begin to describe how the family feels right now,” the GoFundMe said. The family is asking for donations to help with funeral costs and taking care of his family.

Services will be held Thursday and Friday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Milpitas.
