Livermore Educator Named Teacher of the Year

Information provided by the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District:

Linda Stevens, first grade teacher at Rancho Las Positas Elementary School in Livermore, was honored by the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) as a 2011 Teacher of the Year on October 6, 2011 at the Annual Award Ceremony at the San Leandro Arts Education Center.  Mrs. Stevens was visited at her school by Sheila Jordan, Alameda County Superintendent of Schools and Yvonne Cerrato, Alameda County Board of Education Trustee, Area 7 on January 20, 2012.

Mrs. Stevens has been a teacher in the Livermore Valley joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) for 37 years and Rancho Las Positas is proud to celebrate this well deserved honor with her. "Linda is a master teacher, she knows her students needs both emotionally and academically. She deeply cares for her students and works hard to ensure their growth” says Rancho Las Positas principal, Chris Calabrese. Mrs. Stevens has taught Grades 1-3 at Rancho where she has resided 26 of her 37 years. She is a dedicated teacher whose caring and nurturing attitude has won her accolades among parents, principals, coworkers and students over the years.

In its 22nd year of recognitions, ACOE celebrates teachers throughout Alameda County for their excellence in classroom instruction. The honor and significance of the award will be throughout the 2011/2012 school year.
