Bomb Squad Clears Suspicious Package
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office bomb squad responded to a suspicious package delivered to a business on Southfront Road.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office bomb squad cleared a suspicious package delivered to a business on the 7000 block of Southfront Road, Officer Steven Goard said.
At 8:30 a.m. Friday, police received a report from an employee that a suspicious package was delivered to the business.
The caller told police that it was not the normal mail carrier who delivered the package, which was sealed in an odd way, Goard said.

In addition, the employee said there was no return address on the package.
"The employee thought it was suspicious, and called us as a precaution," Goard said.

The county's bomb squad was then called to the area, and the business was temporarily evacuated.
The small package ended up being an award plaque scheduled for a Friday delivery, and was eventually handed to the appropriate person, Goard said.
Police applaud the employee for their action, adding that "it's always better to be safe."
The bomb squad cleared the area shortly after 11 a.m.
