Granada High Shelter in Place Order Lifted
The precautionary lockdown took effect about 8:30 a.m. Superintendent Kelly Bowers is on the Granada campus, along with police.

LIVERMORE, CA: A shelter in place order issued to the students and staff at Granada High School in Livermore has been lifted, according to a statement from Superintendent Kelly Bowers. Principal Philomena Rambo issued the lockdown order by email at about 8:30 a.m. after school officials were alerted to a possible campus safety threat on or near the campus.
School officials say they are working with Livermore Police in order to ensure the safety of the students. Students who did not have a first-period class were asked to stay home until further notice.
Superintendent Kelly Bowers is on the Granada campus, according to a statement issued to parents:
This morning, just as school was starting, Granada High Administration received a communication that indicated a possible safety threat on or near campus. It did not appear credible; however, in the interest of safety, we needed to take it seriously. The Livermore Police Department special units responded immediately and ordered a Shelter in Place. All students and staff have cooperated fully with our Shelter in Place protocols and we are in the process of obtaining clearance in order to resume classes as scheduled. I am on the Granada High Campus with LPD special units to order to provide additional support. I realize this creates extreme anxiety for our community and families; however, we are not permitted to release students or staff until we receive an all-clear, which we anticipate will be forthcoming. We will keep you posted and appreciate your support, cooperation and patience. Thank you.
Rambo updated parents by email just before 10 a.m.
"We received an anonymous communication this morning that contained a possible campus safety threat. We do not know if it is credible; however we must treat it as if it could be."
Livermore Police officials have not yet been reached for comment.
