Chocolate Truck Catches Fire On I-580 Near Altamont: CHP
A big rig carrying chocolate caught on fire near Grant Line Road early Friday morning, causing delays.

ALTAMONT, CA — Burnt chocolate tastes good on s'mores, but not so great on a morning commute.
A big-rig truck carrying chocolate caught fire just before 6:45 a.m. Friday on westbound I-580 west of Grant Line Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. A mechanical issue caused the brakes to overheat and catch fire, CHP Officer Tyler Hahn told Patch.
One lane was closed, but large traffic delays resulted. CHP posted photos on X of black smoke billowing out of the truck, and of a completely hollowed out truck following the fire.
