Deacon Dave's Christmas Display Opens Friday To The Public

Here's the lowdown on one of Tri-Valley's most beloved holiday lights festivities.

LIVERMORE, CA — Rev. Deacon Dave's famed Tri-Valley holiday lights extravaganza is back this year after taking a hiatus in 2020 due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

The 38th annual Deacon Dave's Christmas Display is slated to open Friday and kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a procession down Hillcrest Avenue, organizers said.

Mayor Bob Woerner will address the crowd, then the theme of the display will be announced, organizers said. The lights will be blessed and the gates will open to the public.

Masks may be required and admission is free.

Also known as Casa del Pomba, or House of the Dove, Deacon Dave's display will feature more than 610,000 lights. There will be a coin toss and donation box for to his charity, Santa's Secret Service, which provides gifts to those in need.

Volunteers spent the off-year in 2020 working on model drains, gardens, decor, and repairing buildings and bolstering security systems.

The display will run through Jan. 1. Visit 352 Hillcrest Ave. from 6 to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
