LIVERMORE, CA — The doves are back in town. Deacon Dave’s Light Display, also known as “Casa del Pomba” (House of the Doves in Portuguese), has reopened for the season under the theme "Storybook Christmas."

Each December, Dave “Deacon Dave” Rezendes' home at 352 Hillcrest Avenue transforms into a magical village illuminated by more than 800,000 lights. As visitors take in the twinkling lights of every color, they can also enjoy the peaceful cooing of nearby doves, who have won over 380 awards at county fairs. They can also walk across the Proposal Bridge, where more than 72 marriage proposals have taken place over 38 years.

Last year, Deacon Dave's won $50,000 in ABC's "The Great Christmas Light Fight," a reality miniseries in which family light displays compete for who can create the most elaborate lights display. The winning display was a grand castle containing 875,000 bulbs and 44 Christmas trees entitled "Christmas Through The Eyes Of A Child."
