Deadline Set For Las Positas Golf Course Operators

Sept. 10.

That's the deadline city officials have given service operators at to produce a profitable business plan, according to a report by the Bay Area News Group.

Failing to meet the deadline will push the city to place the service contracts out for bid.

The struggling course has lost $2.5 million over the past 12 years and forced the city to loan it money from the general fund, according to the report.

The service contracts for , DeBenedetti Pro Shop and Livermore Golf Management Corp. all expire on Jan. 31, 2013.

City officials have a goal of making the golf course sustainable.

The city would consider a single operator for the course or a plan for two or three separate operators at the 46-year-old course.

The council voted 5-0 at its July 23 meeting to allow the Biebers and DeBenedettis to work with city staff on deal points that could be turned into a profitable contract and also unanimously voted to have the city staff put together a request for proposals for operation of the businesses jointly or separately.
