Dense Fog Shrouds Bay Area's Valley Roads Amid Morning Commute

Several cities in North and East Bay valleys were placed under a dense fog advisory early Monday morning.

BAY AREA, CA — The National Weather Service has issued a fog advisory for several parts of the region until 10 a.m. Monday, with visibility of one quarter mile or less.

The advisory, for hazardous driving conditions due to dense fog, is in effect for North Bay interior valleys, East Bay interior valleys, the Northern Salinas Valley, Hollister Valley, Carmel Valley, southern Monterey Bay and the Big Sur coast.

According to the weather service, the advisory includes the cities of Santa Rosa, South Santa Rosa, Napa, San Rafael, Petaluma, Novato, Rohnert Park, Concord, Antioch, Livermore, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, Pittsburg, San Ramon, Salinas, Seaside, Monterey and Marina.

When driving in heavy fog, motorists should slow down, use headlights and leave ample distance between cars ahead of them.
