Home Invasion Robbery Suspect Is Ex-Con, On Probation

LIVERMORE, CA — The suspect in an armed home invasion robbery in Livermore on Tuesday is a three-time felon who had been placed on probation in March for a recent felony conviction for receiving stolen property, according to court records. Jared Moynahan, 24, was charged today with two counts of residential robbery and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm for a home invasion robbery in the 1500 block of Wagoner Drive in Livermore at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to police and prosecutors.
The victim told Livermore police that the suspect came into his house, pointed a black handgun at him and took his Apple iPhone 7, according to a probable cause statement by Livermore police Officer Sean Mariconi.
Police said that after the robbery, Moynahan fled to his own nearby home in the 900 block of Coronado Way, where he barricaded himself inside and refused dozens of commands to leave.
Police said officers used chemical agents to try to get Moynahan to leave his home peacefully but at about 3:30 p.m., a SWAT Team and a K-9 officer had to enter the residence to finally arrest him.Mariconi said officers found Moynahan hiding under a blanket. According to court records, Moynahan pleaded no contest on Feb. 13 to one charge of receiving stolen property for an offense that occurred last Sept. 22.

In return, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office agreed to dismiss two other counts of receiving stolen property and to strike from his record for sentencing purposes his prior convictions.Moynahan was convicted of receiving stolen property in 2016 and of unlawfully taking a vehicle in 2015 and 2017.
On March 14, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Stuart Hing sentenced Moynahan to five years' probation. Moynihan was scheduled to be arraigned on the robbery charges this afternoon.
