Livermore 2nd Safest Suburb In California: SmartAsset
The rankings were based on rates of violent crime, property crime, drug overdose and traffic deaths, among others.
LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore is the second safest suburb in California and the 37th safest city in the United States, according to a 2025 SmartAsset study.
The ranking of America’s Safest Suburbs used publicly available data on violent crime, property crime, drug overdose and traffic deaths, among others.
The analysis also drew upon data from the FBI’s 2023 Uniform Crime Reporting Database and the Census Bureau’s 2023 American Community Survey, and adults reporting they drink excessively in a survey conducted by the University of Wisconsin Public Health Institute for its 2025 County Health Rankings & Roadmap.

“This ranking is a direct result of the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of our team and our partnership with the community. I’m proud of the men and women who serve this city every day,” Livermore Police Department Chief Jeramy Young said in a statement.
SmartAsset ranked Palo Alto the safest city in California. Pacifica, Mountain View, Fullerton, and San Mateo ranked just behind Livermore. Lehi, Utah; Bethesda, Maryland; and Great Falls, Virginia were ranked the safest suburbs nationwide.
