Livermore Fire Map: See Midway Fire Perimeter, Location

LIVERMORE, CA — A fire burning in the Altamont area of Alameda County, just outside Livermore, broke out Thursday afternoon and ballooned to more than 250 acres before crews stopped the forward spread, according to CalFire officials.

The fire was first reported at two acres at around 2:51 p.m., then spread quickly, according to Cal Fire. It jumped 580, causing the freeway to close between Patterson Pass Road and I-205. It has burned 262 acres near Patterson Pass Road and Midway Road just outside Mountain House as of 5 p.m.

CalFire says an "aggressive attack from the ground and air" was launched Thursday to help slow the spread.
