Livermore Hosts Little League Intermediate 50/70 Baseball World Series
Intermediate teams from around the world are playing in Livermore this week, but that does not include any Tri-Valley teams.
LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore takes center stage as it again hosts the Intermediate 50/70 Baseball World Series, which began Sunday, July 27 and lasts until Sunday, Aug. 3.
Livermore’s Max Baer Park will host six American Intermediate Little League teams and six Intermediate Little League teams from across the world. All players are ages 11-13. In 2024, the team from Kenner, Louisiana beat the team from Seoul, South Korea, the latter of whom are returning to Livermore this year.
Last year, Livermore’s team played in its hometown and came within striking distance of winning, before losing to the Kenner team in the championship game. In 2022, the Danville team won the entire World Series.

This year’s Little League World Series made international news for reasons other than baseball. Although the Venezuelan team qualified for the Senior Baseball World Series for ages 13-16 after winning the Latin American championship in Mexico, they were denied visas to enter the U.S. due to the Trump administration’s travel ban.

“The Cacique Mara Little League team from Venezuela was unfortunately unable to obtain the appropriate visas to travel to the Senior League Baseball World Series,” Little League International said in a statement shared with the Associated Press, calling the decision “extremely disappointing, especially to these young athletes.”
The team traveled to the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia to apply for the visas.
“It is a mockery on the part of Little League to keep us here in Bogotá with the hope that our children can fulfill their dreams of participating in a world championship,” the team said in a statement. “What do we do with so much injustice, what do we do with the pain that was caused to our children?”
