Livermore Leader Who Helped Rejuvenate Downtown To Resign

LIVERMORE, CA — A longtime Livermore civic leader who has been instrumental in the success of the city's rejuvenated downtown district for the last two decades is moving on.

Rachael Snedecor, executive director of Livermore Downtown Inc., is resigning to pursue opportunities for professional career consulting and contract work in her field of expertise.

Snedecor's final day as executive director will be Feb. 28.

For 21 years, Snedecor has played a pivotal, critical role in the development and success of the city's downtown specific plan, working diligently to create a "main street" district to be the "heartbeat of Livermore", according to the agency's Board of Directors.

The directors credit Snedecor with being instrumental in helping to mold Livermore's historical downtown district into a thriving community hub.

Among her contributions, Snedecor assisted in facilitating the downtown streetscape and relocating state Highway 84 away from downtown to Isabel Avenue and a new junction with Interstate 580 near the Livermore-Pleasanton city limits.

Snedecor is also credited with helping the city's small businesses to thrive and with outlining a vision for Livermore and its downtown district to work together as one entity that created a unique environment that balances the city's livability and commerce with one another.

The organization is recruiting for the executive director position and is planning to conduct candidate interviews in early January.
