Livermore Man Charged With Attacks On Female Joggers

Willie Richardson was arrested in connection with sexual batteries in recent months, police said.

LIVERMORE, CA — A Livermore man was arrested this week in connection with recent attacks on female joggers in the city.

Willie Richardson, 35, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of four felony counts of sexual battery, the Livermore Police Department said Thursday in a statement.

He was charged on five felony counts including sexual battery by restraint and assault with intent to commit a sex crime, court records show. Richardson was also charged with numerous enhancements, which can be tacked onto a count to enhance a potential punishment.

He was not in Santa Rita Jail as of Friday morning.

The arrest came on the heels of a two-month investigation after officers looked into reports of several sexual batteries near the running trail on East Avenue and Vasco Road, police said.

Police were not looking for any other suspects.

Officers arrested Richardson during a traffic stop, then searched his home, where they found items that police said linked him to the assaults.
