Livermore Man Charged With Kidnapping, Holding Victim Hostage

An armored police vehicle helped the victim escape the Tracy home on Friday, according to the Tracy Police Department.

LIVERMORE, CA — A Livermore man was among three suspects arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a victim at gunpoint and holding them hostage, according to the Tracy Police Department.

On Friday at around 4:45 p.m., Tracy police received a report that a victim was being held hostage at gunpoint inside a Tracy home. Numerous units used the department’s BearCat Armored Recovery Vehicle to surround the residence and rescue the victim. Officers deployed a drone, which they allege showed Gerardo Tornero-Rosales, a 26-year-old from Livermore, fleeing through the back of the home. He was immediately captured behind the home. The victim, and suspect Angel-Gutierrez of Oakland, surrendered to officers in front of the home without incident.

Following detective interviews and a residence search, Tornero-Rosales and Lopez-Gutierrez were booked into San Joaquin County Jail on a number of charges, according to Tracy police. Tornero-Rosales was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, false imprisonment, criminal threats, and possession of methamphetamine.
