Livermore Names First 'Ambassadog'
Labrador Retriever Boomer Bowers was named as the city's first dog-in-chief.

LIVERMORE, CA — Elections may be approaching in Livermore, but one important leadership role has already been selected. Boomer Bowers, a nine-year-old English cream Labrador Retriever, was named Livermore’s first Ambassadog by Valley Humane Society and Livermore Area Recreation and Park District.
Boomer, who is owned by Three Valleys Community Foundation President/CEO and former LVJUSD Superintendent Kelly Bowers, has been as active in the community as his owner. He participated in events on school campuses and facilities in Livermore schools, including reading with students with special needs, offering stress relief during exams, and providing comfort during times of grief or crisis, according to LARPD.
Boomer has volunteered at community vaccination events, LARPD’s Dogtoberfest, the Guinness Book of World Record contests, and the annual Race to the Flagpole sponsored by the Livermore-Granada Boosters, among others.

He was recognized as Livermore’s 2024 Amassadog at the Jan. 31 LARPD Board of Directors meeting with a proclamation, certificate, and official Livermore Ambassadog leash.
“The Ambassadog was a live auction item raising funds to support Valley Humane Society's programs at their annual Tails at Twilight gala,” said LARPD Community Outreach Supervisor David Weisgarber. “It is fun to have Boomer as Livermore’s inaugural Ambassadog. He has been a fixture in the community for years. We’re excited to have him represent Livermore at upcoming events like Muffins with Bunny, Community Service Day and the Little League World Series.”
