Livermore Police Accepting Applications Citizens’ Academy

The sessions are designed so that participants get involved by asking questions and doing hands-on activities.

From Livermore Police:The Livermore Police Department is now accepting applications for its 31st Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA). The 17 week academy will begin on February 1, 2017 and will end on May 24, 2017.

There are no physical requirements for most activities and no costs charged to the participants. The CPA provides participants with a unique inside look at the Livermore Police Department and the law enforcement community.

Participants will be presented with a variety of topics, including patrol operations, communications, evidence collection, hiring and recruitment, traffic, animal control, laws of arrest, search and seizure, use of force, investigations, crime analysis, terrorism, ethical issues, and many others. The sessions are designed so that participants get involved asking questions and doing hands-on activities. A tour of the police facility is included in the first session. There will also be opportunities for ride-a-longs with patrol officers and sit-a-longs with police dispatchers.

The program also includes a Range/SWAT day that will be on a Saturday or Sunday, date yet to be determined.

(http://www.cityoflivermore.net/citygov/police/academy.asp). All applications must be submitted to Lesli Prado via email – lprado@cityoflivermore.net by January 23, 2017 for consideration to attend the program.
