Schools in Livermore will be participating in this year's Great California ShakeOut, in which millions of people worldwide will practice how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills began in California in 2008 as an opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes.

The ShakeOut has also been organized to encourage you, your community, your school, or your organization to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies.

Schools in the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District as well as the Livermore Valley Charter School will be participating.
