Livermore Valley Opera Kicks Off Season With 'La Traviata' Performance

Kick off the season with a four-course dinner at Uncle Yu's and a classic performance of the famous love story.

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore Valley Opera is launching its 34th season with performances of Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata", starting Saturday, Sept. 27. Performances will run at the Bankhead Theater the weekend of the 27-28 and the weekend of Oct. 4-5. The first performance will take place at 7:30 p.m., and all other performances will take place at 2 p.m.

Guests can also attend a separate Opening Night Dinner on Sept. 27 with a welcome exception followed by a four-course dinner at Uncle Yu's paired with wines from JMC Cellars.

"La Traviata" tells the story of an ill-fated love affair between Violetta and Alfredo in 19th century Paris. The 1853 opera is based on an 1852 novel from Alexandre Dumas.

Acclaimed soprano Avery Boettcher stars as Violetta Valéry, while tenor Brad Bickahrdt sings Alfredo Garment, a young man whose love challenges societal norms. Baritone Krassen Karagiozov portrays Giorgio Germont, Alfredo's father.

The play is directed by Candace Evans and also stars Tiffany Gao, Chad Somers, Kirk Eichelberger, Leandra Ramm, Gilead Wurman, and Kevin Brown.
