Sports run deep in Livermore, and Granada High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Matador uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Granada High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.

1. Jack Trudeau - University of Illinois Hall Of Famer

A former Matador, Trudeau had a great career at Illinois as a two-time Second-Team All-Big Ten member before being drafted in the second round by the Indianapolis Colts. 2. Mark Davis - Former MLB All-Star & Cy Young Awardee

A highly regarded pitcher out of Granada, Davis was the first overall draft pick in 1979 to the Philadelphia Phillies, and his MLB career was highlighted by two All-Star appearances and a Cy Young award. (Source: BaseballHall.org)

3. Alexandra Mello - Olympian Scholarship Award Finalist

The most recent alum on our list, Mello received multiple accolades in both water polo and softball. 4. George Atkinson III - Former NFL Running Back

5. Louie Aguiar - Former Second-Team All-Pro Punter
