Midway Fire May Have Started Near Downed Transmission Lines: ACFD
The fast-moving grass fire has burned over 260 acres but is contained as of Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
LIVERMORE, CA — Forward progress on the 262-acre Midway Fire has stopped and the fire is 60% contained as of 6:03 p.m., according to the Alameda County Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but preliminary reports indicate that it may have started new downed wires, West said. PG&E is on the scene investigating, according to West. Patch reached out to PG&E for further information.
The fire began at two acres at around 2:51 p.m., then spread quickly, according to Cal Fire. It jumped 580, causing the freeway to close between Patterson Pass Road and I-205. It has burned 262 acres near Patterson Pass Road and Midway Road just outside Mountain House as of 5 p.m.

A total of 150 personnel, 1 helicopter and 15 engines, are at the scene, with "significant augmentation" expected as of 4:30 p.m. Numerous firefighting air tankers from throughout the state are flying fire suppressions missions as conditions follow, Cal Fire said.
No structures are threatened at this time, according to ABC7. No evacuations have been issued as of 5 p.m., according to CBS San Francisco. No injuries were reported, ACFD Chief Randall West told Patch.
