Mountain Lion Spotted Near Livermore Home
Security footage shows a mountain lion walking past a home near Sycamore Grove early Wednesday morning.
LIVERMORE, CA — A mountain lion was recorded walking near a Livermore house early Wednesday morning, according to a post on Nextdoor.
Security footage shows the lion walking right near the front lawn of a private home on Regent Road, close to Sycamore Grove Park. The poster said it walked by at 4:33 a.m.
There are about 4500 mountain lions in California, according to the UC Davis Mountain Lion Project, a lower number than expected. Sightings have been reported throughout the Bay Area. In Yountville in October, three mountain lions were spotted in a 24-hour-period. In September, a mountain lion was spotted near several homes in Oakland.

A Patch reader also spotted a bobcat while hiking at Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park.

- Stay calm. Face the lion, stand up, and back away slowly.
- Do not approach them.
- Do not run from them.
- Do not crouch down or bend over.
If the lion moves in your direction or acts aggressively, try to appear intimidating by raising your arm, and speaking in a loud voice.
